One of the world's leading violinists, Julia Fischer, will hold a masterclass for students of the Finnish String Academy preparing for the national Juhani Heinonen Violin Competition.

German violinist Julia Fischer is coming to teach at the Finnish String Academy in February 2025. Fischer's masterclass for violinists will take place on Tuesday 25 February 2025 at the Tuomiorovastin pappila (Suomenkyläntie 6, Porvoo) from 14.00-19.15.

A widely acclaimed and sought-after violin virtuoso, Julia Fischer is also renowned for her extraordinary abilities as a concert pianist, chamber musician and teacher. In the 2024-25 season, Julia Fischer returns as soloist to the Czech Philharmonic, the Orchestre National de France and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. She is also the soloist on an extensive European tour with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Vasily Petrenko. In addition, Fischer will be embarking on a recital tour of Europe and the United States. During her visit to Finland, she will be the soloist in the Radio Symphony Orchestra concert conducted by Sakari Oramo on Wednesday 26 February.

Fischer will give a masterclass to six students from the Violin Academy who are preparing for the Juhani Heinonen National Violin Competition in Jyväskylä. The students are Vilma Tikkanen, Aino Mattila, Lilja Haatainen, Leea Mattila, Katri Mettänen and Olga Niemi. The Violin Academy is part of the Finnish String Academy.

The String Academy warmly welcomes the public to listen to Julia Fischer's masterclass. Exceptionally, pre-registration is required. The lessons will be held in two sessions with a 45-minute break in between. Please arrive on time, as latecomers will only be admitted at the beginning of each student’s session.
